Festivity of San Marcos

These Fiestas are celebrated in honour of San Marcos, despite of there isn't actually a figure of him in Bullas. It is a tradition related with agriculture.

Bullas prepares his "huertano" custom to celebrate the Festivity of San Marcos the weekend of 23rd and 24th of April. It is one of its most popular parties.

, The municipality of Bullas presented all the activities for that weekend that we can see in a brochure with a draw of the face of a "huertana" smiling for the occasion.

The winner of the poster to announce the festivity, Rosalia Meritxel García, received from the councilor hands, Antonio José Espín, a prize valued in 100 euros. She, too, has the honor to see her poster in all Social Media.

The program for San Marcos 2016 is as follows:

On Saturday 23rd at 10.00 the program stars with the official reception in the Wine Museum for the groups taking part in the 34th Villa of Bullas National Folklore Festival. Later, at 11.30 in the Paseo Paco Rafal, near La Rafa, it follows an equestrian show.

In the afternoon, at 17.30, the performance of all groups invited to the Folklore Festival in the Plaza de España and when it ends, it will be celebrated to Huertano mass with the patron saint Virgen del Rosario.

As a novelty this year, the whole weekend we can enjoy tapas and beer for only 1 Euro in the Rafa Park by noon.

Events on Sunday 24th initiate bright and early with the procession sets out from the church of Our Lady of the Rosary at 8.00 to bless the fields and the crops in La Murta, featuring the images of San Isidro Labrador, Santa Maria de la Cabeza, San Juan Evangelist and the Virgin of the Rosary. After the procession, the grand parade begins in the Plaza of Spain in the center of Bullas with the colorful floats competing for prizes, and the party continues for children and adults in La Rafa. The party includes live music with a pop band after 20.00.

On the other hand, to promote the festivity through social media networks, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, the Council of Bullas has created the hashtag #megustaSanMarcos.
